Yes, it sucks to be hated by the whole school. I know that only forces you to put on a rhinoceros exterior. But don’t lose your kind, loving and considerate self. Because that is who you really are. It’s been a rough patch and it will only get tougher to be honest. The pettiness of the popularity of the cool and the pretty crowd is, unfortunately, a reality in the adult world. And in some cases may give the cool and pretty people mileage in some areas, but the cracks eventually show.

It is very exasperating to hear this I know but never compromise on your principles. Just because people don’t act as they should – with dignity and respect of others – doesn’t mean you should lower your guard or make compromises for those who lack them. It won’t be easy, that’s what will make the journey difficult. But it won’t be impossible.

Principles are a long haul game, and the beauty of having them is you will steadily grow your tribe of people with these principles. It’s never wrong to do the right and honourable thing. As you have already learnt in High School it will isolate you from the masses. But what it also shows you; real friends emerge in these times. Never forget that.

It’s the real people who count, not the popular or the pretty, the real people who stand by you through thick and thin, who slap you in place when you are in this phase of self-pity and loneliness. You will never be alone. The beauty of who you are is you attract real people. The phonies are intimated and threatened by that and antagonize you. The real friends who really count want to build you, support you, pray with and for you and will make you a better version of yourself.

Hang in there, girl! You are amazing and the world needs more great women like yourself!
